"Flight Terminal Join update"

Greetings:

We've run a few tests with James and he's able to host and join flights without any problems. It seems his "black box" issue is a video card/video driver problem (he's running an ATI card).

Emile:

We'll have to try some tests with your system. It may be that you're connecting through a proxy or NAT'ed IP address. Have you ever been able to join a flight in progress through the Flight Terminal?

Thanks!

Ben

OK, the test done this morning confirms that I can "join" a flight but cannot "host" a flight?
in the FAQ , I did read

"INCOMING UDP 2300-2400
OUTGOING UDP 2300-2400
INCOMING TC/P 2300-2400,47624
OUTGOING TC/P 2300-2400

If you run ZoneAlarm (ZA) firewall with or without the router you also have to configure it to allow the specific ports to pass data. To do this, simply open ZA, click security/internet/customize, fill in the port ranges and check the box to save/enable your new settings. "

My difficulty is that the Free ZoneAlarm version I run "3.1.291" does not have (anymore) the "security/internet/customise" path and I do not find the way to introduce the above data.
Any recommendation?
Thanks in advance

James, I will "join" your flight tomorrow, if you allow me ......

Hi Emile,

I'm unable to fly tomorrow as I have another commitment but the Flight Rally that was scheduled for tomorrow is now being held on the following Sunday, 20th. All timings etc will be the same.

Your more than welcome to join any of my flights my friend.

Regards,

Emile -

IF you're able to fly MP byu joining, your ports are fine - don't worry about ZA in that respect. Are you running a router also and, if so, what kind? It looks like your real IP is being masked. Possibly the next time you fly I could try to join and see what IP you are showing. That would tell us more.

Hi Ben,

After updating the drivers I still get the dreaded black box's. Going back a driver is no use as I get the same effect. Going back to the Original drivers will be a waste of time as they are none Win XP Drivers and I'm running a later version of, whoops (my lips are sealed) :-), nearly got caught out....

The only difference in these other wise identical pc's is this one isn't running XP SP1 where my flying pc is?!

I don't have an ATI card (as I said before, I will never buy another one again) so these are just some general recommendations: You might try changing your color depth and/or changing your video acceleration settings to see if that clears up the problem. SP1 created some graphics issues with FS2K2, so it's not inconceivable that it would cause other graphics issues with other programs.
