"ACARS online users"

Greetings!

Some of you may have noticed that we've added some new functionality to ACARS. The newest additions add status listings to the online users list.

If you see any of the following next to an members name in the online users list, they indication as follow:

OLR - the member is accessing the VPC message board via our soon-to-be released VPC OffLine Reader

away - the member has set ACARS in away mode indicating they are not by their computer and may not immediately answer incoming ACARS messages

in flight - the member has joined a flight in the Flight Rooms.

Folks, we see ACARS as a technology to help bond and build the VPC Community. If you're online at the VPC, we request that you keep ACARS open so others can see that VPC is indeed populated. From the hit counts we're getting, we know we have many visitors, but only a percentage of them appear on ACARS. And as we all know, crowds attract bigger crowds. However, if the site appears to be empty, well, your average net user isn't going to hang around waiting for someone else to show up.

While ACARS (well, and the VPC overall) still isn't exactly where we want it to ultimately be feature and function wise, it is usable and we appreciate everyone's support, patience, and understanding while we continue to sort things out.

Ben

We've just added "chat" to ACARS to indicate when the member is in a VPC chat room.

Thanks!

Hello Ben, I did find following :
When I login with a correct userid and a wrong password, this is rejected (ok) , BUT the ACARS window is open with my userid (Emile's messages and currently online); just to inform you

GREAT catch Emile, and I just confirmed it! Ben this is a huge security hole. I suggest shutting down acars asap until it's patched.

Welcome back, Emile:

Hope the golfing was good. :)

Yes, you caught a huge security hole! With all of the fooling around lately with ACARS I disabled password detection. It's been fixed.

Thanks again,
Ben

Hello Ben,
Yes golfing was perfect (to my level anyway), weather was perfect (7 days with blue sky, what a difference with Belgium) and food is good....

ACARS solved ....that's quick

Now let's go back to business and FS2K2
Thanks
