I don't know if anyone else has seen this yet, but I thought I'd pass it along.

Free Google Earth Flight Sim
http://www.gearthblog.com/blog/archives/2007/08/flight_simulator_mod.html

The demo video on the above page shows a flight from Meigs (which looks a lot like FS2000), but the mountain flying in the F16 using Google Earth's terrain is very nice.

If GE makes some add-on development information available, could this mean some real competition for MSFS?

Regardless, enjoy!

Ben

Hi Ben,

Picked this one up a couple of days ago but not had chance to use it/try it yet.

Also picked up an add in to FSX so as you can use google earth as a moving map for FSX.

Will try them both out at some stage this week.

Regards,

James.

Hi James:

Vic mentioned some FS2K4 moving map program that uses sectionals that does work with FSX. It sounds like just what we need (electronic flight bag).

Vic, can you provide the details again?

Thanks!
Ben

Hi Guy's,

Still no reply from Vic yet <s>. Another one for you folks using FSX and Google Earth that I was kindly given by Ray Proudfoot is http://www.wideview.it/fsearth/

It's a dll which links FSX and Google Earth. Can also show AI Trafic or Multiplayer's. I started using it a few day's ago and it's neat.. Costs about $14-15 to register it.

Regards,

James (Hawkwind) Anderson

James - what kind of performance hit do you get? Since I run ASX for real weather, I would imagine some sort of hit using bandwidth for google.

Sorry for the delay. It's called FSMM -FS Moving Map. It's available on Avsim and there are sectionals that have been converted there.

Hi Vic,

Sorry for the delay but been busy <s> At the moment I get a slight stutter (I use it networked) but the cause I've just found out is that on this pc I have dual CPUs and one of them is playing up and also a faulty graphics card or FSX has become naff all of a sudden.

Checking them out at some point this week.

Hi Vic (again),

Eventually found FSMM on Avsim it's actually FSMMM - you missed an M out <G>.

It states for FS2002/2004. Are you using it in FSX. DO you network it?
