"Prodigal son returns yet again"

Hi Ben and the Simmers,

Just to let you all know that I will be starting with the usual in the neer future.

a couple of things.

What is the name and the location of the available download for the map which operates within Flight SIm and does it now support SFX??

I have tried to get into the terminal but MS keeps poping up with unrecognised site etc etc and will not install any active x the site attempts. No matter what I set IE to it still pisses me off?!?!?!

How many of you are using FSX??

Still havent got around to OLR OffLine Reader yet so may well need a few pointers on that one.

Hope to hear from one of you soon.

Regards,

James (Andy) ANderson

Welcome back, James!

There are several maps. Are you referring to the Radar screen or the replacement terrain?

WinXP SP2 broke a few things with IE and activeX. You'll need to download the patch (look in the download forum) to fix it.

Not many of us (acutally, I count only one that I know of personally) are using FSX.

Hope to see you around again.

Ben

Hi Ben,

I used to use Enrico's (Project Magenta) Moving Map, but at present only have one pc up and running. Think it was FSnav or something like that (F9 key? to pop it up).

Re patch, thanks will try it.

Noticed the lack of posts on it (g). Looks nice but I'm having problems remembering what keyboard key does what, rather frustrating and I ain't usually one for reading manuals. Microsoft obviouslly wanted to test us on this one.

Hope so to.

James.

Hey James!

I use FSX and love it. The map I think you mean is FSNavigator - not ready yet for FSX.

IE7 is a PITA but if you can download the VPC.CFG file it should make the registry changes. Other than that, you can go into internet explorer options and manually change the active x settings and put the vpc as a trusted site.

Glad to see ya back!

Vic

Yo Vic,

Roger, usually takes developers a while to get their stuff back up and running in newer versions, Ta.

Made the changes in IE but still no joy, will try the cfg file again.

Nice to be back.

James.

James:

Just for clarification, we have the config file and the patch. They're two different utils. The IE patch is in the Download forum, the vpc config util is elsewhere (can't remember off hand). I suppose since most folks are now on SP2, we should probably combine the two into a single utility.

Hi Ben,

Ran them both and tweaked a bit and now have it sort of working (g).

Regards,

James.

p.s. Still get the 1067 error on attempting to start SQL?!

Hi James -

I just did a google search on MySql Error 1067 and got a bunch of hits. You might want to do that and browse a few to see if there's any info that might help.

Got the vpcolr to work after Vic's email. Logged on and as far as I was aware it was updating the database. I went out to watch a football match and when I returned it was showing all the messages.

Started to do a pass this afternoon but now get a Vcpolr - EAccessViolation message when I try to run the OLR? Any one have any ideas!!

James.

Is there more info or just EAccessviolation?

That means the program is trying to access memory where it's not supposed to. That is usually caused by a corrupt file. It's possible the db got trashed in the download. You might try deleting them one at a time and trying again.

If it ran well enough to get the old files then I'd bet that one of the files got corrupted.

HTH,

Vic

Hi Vic,

Thanks for the note <g> via Webmaster Simflight.. Will get around to joining you at some stage. I only have FSX installed and I dont think its backwards compat with 2004?!

On the subject of the OLR

Nope, just that.

Hi James -

I fly FSX in with Ben and TB who fly FS2004 - not a problem.

It's been a while so I'll have to check when I get home but IIRC the database files are .dbf extension.

OK, will see what I can do for this week-end <s>.

IIRC ??? I don't have any .dbf file extensions for FlightAdventures, Perl nor Mysql?????

Just wondering if it will be worth installing it all onto another pc/laptop?
