G,day guys,
Done it again hit the enter key starting this !! :(

I am having a lot of trouble joining the Multiplayer "Fly Now" area, through the VPC Lounge/FlightTerminal/Fly Now keys.
I can join the flight through FS9 Multiplayer function manually entering 66.17.49.136.
I have ran and installed the VPC.cfg file as required.
Http://www.flightadventures & *www.flightadventures listed in the IE "Trusted Sites".

Is there any other settings readily known in the security area which I should have set or otherwise

I feel sure it is due to some restriction being set by the Windows SP2 update and am hopeful that someone has experienced similar problem.
Regards and TIA.
Andy.

Hi Andy:

What happens after you click Fly Now?

Does the Launcher appear? Does the launcher ActiveX download window appear?

G,day Ben,
I should have been more expilicit.:(
After Clk. Fly Now the yellow Launcher window appears, remains empty for some time with the "loading" icon showing-- then the following Windows error message appears -cannot load due to the following file error
VL8 Proj1.cab (not the exact wording Ben)
The launcher ActiveX download window does NOT appear.

Browsing through IE Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/ Browsing section.
The "Enable Instal on demand (IE)" is UN-checked
and "Enable Instal on demand (Other) is Checked.
Any possible bearing on things ??
As usual many thenks for your interest Ben.
Regards,
Andy

Greetings Andy:

I think you're correct. SP2 is probably the root of your troubles.

The first thing I would try is wiping out the ActiveX control in case that was corrupted in the download.

To do this:

From IE Tools/Internet Options: General Tab: Temporary Internet files box: Settings...: View Objects... button, delete VL8X Control, then try the Flight Terminal again.

The system will download a fresh copy of the Launcher.

> Browsing section.

That's what mine says, so I think you're OK there.

Let us know what happens.

Ben

G,day Ben,

Again many thanks for your time and info.

I had a look at the IE/View Objects and have three files listed :- AcarsSX ; Vchat ; WU WebControl Class (Properties showing the last as an ActiveX Control)
Not he same name as VL8XControl you suggested removing.

With my very limited knowledge Ben I am very wary of removing files etc. without knowing how to recover them. I tried backing the WU Web Control up without success (Except for a folder appearing in My Documents named SP2, which has ,I assume, all the SP2 Files etc in it)
Things like that happening tend to make me back off and
wait for re-enforcements :) (Like in the way of more advice) :)
Again many thanks Ben and see you in the chat today.
Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy:

My best guess is that you tried to download the Launcher after updating to SP2 without first running VPCCFG. Now when you try to download it, your IE cache is shooting you a blank rather than the launcher.

My suggestion now that you've run VPCCFG is to empty out IE's temporary files cache (Tools: Internet Options...: General tab: Temporary Internet Files section: Delete Files... button.

Once that clears out, restart IE and try the Fly Now again.

Keep us posted!

Ben
