"Zlin 526F"

Ok,

I'll post on another subject. My friend/CFI/co-owner of our C150H just bought the Zlin 526F. Its still in Atlanta (no heater, its been snowing and COLD here in Cinn. Ohio) so I haven't seen it.

If weather is good he hopes to bring it up on Sunday.

After he gets time in it and comfortable then I will get to fly it. A former IAC president (who flys for the same company he does) will be working with him/us.

Nothing wild, just plan on doing "gentlemans" aerobatics for the fun of it.

Dave-
That is very cool! I'm looking forward to your personal PIREP on the airplane.

So... are you willing to divulge the identity of this mysterious former IAC president? Sounds like you'll be getting expert instruction in any case. Have fun!

Tom P.

Not sure how much I will get from him, but the mysterious person is Rob Dorcey. He has a 450 horse Stearman (I still want a ride in that), and a newer single place Zlin, and I think one other but can't recall.

Until my friend is trained and "up to speed" I'll likely just get to learn to fly it "normal". Will be interesting to see if its more or less squirrley than the Luscombe on the ground....

Since I don't really have the time or $$ to compete or get real serious, I would be happy doing some rolls, loops, flying upsidedown every so often. I have no doubts it would make me a better (safer) pilot in the C150.

Wow! I have gotten a ton of good information from Rob's Stick and Rudder columns. You probably already know about this, but Rob's columns and lots of other good stuff can be found at the American Aerobatics Association Web Site. Sounds like you will be in good hands.

Yes, I am a member of AAA (ha ha) as well.

I figure Rob will work with my friend and he will pass it down to me as time goes along.

Its here. He made it in just before dark, about froze to death. The sun was out except for the last 40 minutes, when he was under the overcast. He said it was like stepping into a freezer.

The 6 cylinder sounds like a small WWII fighter, very nice music!

I will be flying straight and level in it until he completes his training and gets comfortable in it (such that he is capabale of undoing anything I might do!), looks like it would be a hoot just buzzing around in it!

Looks like you should have skis on that airplane--or at least snow chains for the tires! :)

Seriously, good luck with it!

Ben
