"'Mark' button"
04-08-02, 04:47z

Hi Ben

My 'Mark' button is refusing to do its job. It has been working perfectly until a day or two ago.

What might I be doing wrong?

Regards
Frank

The only thing I can think of is your cookie has become corrupted or you're not receiving cookies properly. (Just FYI, we haven't changed anything on the message board for more than a week.)

Are you accepting the cookie (the remember me option) when you login? You might try manually deleting your cookie and logging in again if that doesn't work.

Of course you could always migrate to the offline reader. :)

Please let me know if that fixes it for you.

Yes, and I tried that but will try it again.

I'd like to if you can accommodate another during the test period. I'm one of the many still missing OzWin.:-(

Frank

OK, let me delete all of the session files (yours may have become corrupted). Can you walk me through what happens? You login, click Mark Message and what happens? Does it mark, but when you come back it's not marked read anymore, or does it not do anything?

Thanks!

I believe our testing positions are filled, but the main release should be out shortly. I never used OzWin, but I'm told that the VPC OLR duplicates the major OzWin functionality (not bad for a first attempt if we say so ourselves!). :)

Hi Ben

It might be right again. After several frustrating days I think I've found the problem. An article I read in 'Internet Advisor' suggested, inter alia, selecting 'never' for checking for newer versions of stored pages in the Temp Internet files folder. I've put everything back where it was and have fingers crossed.

This explains my delay in writing back. Every time I tried to get in contact it was as if the record needle had stuck (an old expression you may understand :-))

Ah, yes, that would explain it. You would have been reading the pages left in your cache rather than what's actually on the server.

Glad you figured it out.

Rgr that! Which reminds me, I took the kids out to a 1950's style soda shop for dinner and they had a jukebox in the corner playing 45's. My kids said, "Look Daddy, what a cool CD player!" I told them it was a jukebox and those were 45's. They said "What's a 45?" I replied, "Records." A few seconds lapsed and the unexpected "What are records?" question came up. My kids have never seen a record before.

Does this mean I've lost touch with the younger generation? :)
