"Cessna 310."
06-19-04, 02:34z

G,day guys,
I have a slight problem with the C310, which I have just re-installed from the Flight Adventures Crew Disc #2.
On selecting the aircraft and click OK I get the following Error FS9.. Detect potentially incompatable aircraft or software. File GUAGES\cdgps.Gua. Do you want to load this software , click No to disable etc etc.

The referred to file is listed in the FS9/Guages/Folder.
Anyone else come across this problem and am grateful for any advice.
Regards,
Andor.

I edited the PANEL.CFG for that aircraft with NOTEPAD. I substituted the FS9 GPS gauge. Here is the section for the GPS panel (Window02).

VISIBLE=0
ident=GPS_PANEL

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0, 0, 322,275

I experemented with a few other things as well, but never got the manifold pressure gage to look right in the virtual cockpit.(VCockpit01)

G,day Robert,
Many thanks for your info.
I altered the C310 Panel cfg Window 02 to your specifications and got the GPS panel up and running.
However the "Error FS9" message still appears on loading the aircraft with the same GAUGES\cdgps.GAU incompatible wording.
I also lost the VOR1&2, ADF gauges (they used to appear under the GPS icon).
In the Window02 I only altered the gauge00 line, leaving the gauge01 & gauge02 as they were ??
At the moment I have reverted back to the "default" settings preferring to have the VOR & ADF gauges as I have the FSNav display to keep me out of trouble :)
Again thanks Robert, I,ll keep trying with it as see what happens.
Regards,
Andy.

You could change the gps gauge name in the window00 section (cdgps!gps to fs9gps!gps_500) or, as I did, delete that line and decrease the gauge numbers for the remaining gauges in that section (gauge29 to gauge28 etc). The new window02 section (provided previously) establishes a new 2D panel that pops up with the standard Shift-3)
In my experiments I moved the radio navigation gages to a new panel / window05 with the following entries

size_mm=100,300
position=8
BACKGROUND_COLOR=16,16,16
VISIBLE=0
ident=NAV_PANEL
gauge00=Cessna182rg!VOR1, 0, 0, 100
gauge01=Cessna182s!VOR2, 0, 100, 100
gauge02=Cessna182rg!ADF, 0, 200, 100

This pops up with Shift-6. I added:

window05=Radio NAV Displays

to the Window Titles section

I didn't see room for the radio navigation indicators in the virtual cockpit, but the popup panels work threre as well. The new virtual cockpit entries make many of the gauges, including the GPS, work in the virtual cockpit. The text isn't really ledgible on the virtual cockpit view of the GPS, but it's enough to line the plane up on ILS feathers or the flight path if a plan is loaded. I had trouble with the clock didplay not being ledgible in the virtual cockpit and had trouble with a duplicate image with the manifold pressure gauge. At some point I may experiment with different clock and manufold pressure gauges, but I might need to change portions of the panel bitmap. To my understanding adding additional panel surfaces like throttle quadrants or an center console for the GPS would require access to the plane's 3D model source files, which I don't have.

If I get things like the mainfold pressure gauge working I'll ask Ben if he wants to make the changes available as a download.

We can do that. I'm asking Chuck if we can include the update with our VPC Plane release as well. Stand by...

Chuck has given his approval, so we can incorporate the updates at our leisure.

Thanks, Robert!

Thanks, Chuck!
