"fs2004 ils approach freq"

OK - this one is for the beta testers. Using the Garmin - can you determine the ILS frequencies for an approach - rather I should ask, HOW can you determine the freq. I've clicked on every button I can find and altho I get the ATIS freq etc, I can't find the ILS freq. I thought this info wasa available. The help file is no help at all!

Thanx,

Vic

Hi Vic:

Glad you got it figured out.

I've used the Garmin GNS-430 and 530, but have never seen a 500 before (one that's modeled in FSCOF). However, your question brings up some interesting points.

1. Both the 430 and 530 are IFR certified.
2. WAAS was just enabled at some 6 airports on July 10. I can only recall Oklahoma City (FAA HQ), Oshkosh, and the Kittyhawk NC (Wright Bros famous flight location airport).
3. LNAV and VNAV charts should start appearing very quickly.

I haven't had time to check it out myself yet, but I suspect that the 500 (regardless if it exists in the real world) looks to be an IFR GPS, but does it support WAAS and/or LAAS approaches?

Ben

Hi Ben -

this from the Garmin website:

"The GPS 500 is TSO C129a certified for GPS non-precision approaches and will be WAAS-upgradable."

So there IS a real world G500. I seriously doubt that FS9 has the capabilities but, you never know with old MS <G>.

cya,

Vic

Thanks, Vic!

Yep, but I agree that because it's "WAAS-upgradable", it probably doesn't work in FS9. I'll give it a try this weekend.

On a side note, we had Jim Terpstra (Corp. Sen. VP Jeppesen) out here last week as a speaker for our seminar and he had some very interesting things to say about GPS. I'll break some of these things out into threads.
