"Starting engine(s) Heli FS2002 "
07-16-02, 06:01z

Hello all, I need some assistance
For weeks I have downloaded, installed, tried and finally deleted several FS2002 helis found on the FSSim sites .
My problem ? I cannot start the engine(s)!!! when the flight is selected , the aircraft is selected, Sim start and the engine(s) seams running, I do not get the time to sit in the cockpit ..... the engine(s) stops ...and impossible to restart .
I have tried several standard commands like "Ctrl+E", Shift F1, F4, Shift+Ctrl+F4, I have controlled my keyboard, the command settings in FS 2002 PRO, the stick...all is OK
1 exception the standard FS2002 Bell heli , the engine runs without any problem but it's to difficult to handle (for me) and I prefer the "old" big stable machines..
In fact I look for the fantastic machines like the SH-3, Chinook, ...

Emile

Hi Emile,

Are the Heli files for FS2002 and not so called revamps of FS98/2000 ones? Send me one via e-mail to james@crew.flightadventures.com and I'll try it out and see what response I get from it.

I've installed a few and not happy with their handling.

Regards,

James (CONman) Anderson

Hi Emile,

I have found a number of aircraft that have the same problem, including my FS98 Spitfire XI. :-(

Make sure that the helicopters have at least a FS200 air file. Ones with a FS2000 air file should start reliably with the "Ctrl+E" command.

Now that my Spitfire has a FS2000 air file, the engine starting problems are gone.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Melo

Hello,
I did continue my testing and did found the following :
I start FS2002, select the "standard" Bell héli , I start the Flight, the aircraft is OK and the engine is running...now I select (Alt, Aircraft, Select aircraft) one of the other helis (Chinook Antartic) , the aircraft is loaded and the engines are RUNNING !!
I stop FS2002 , reload it , I directly select the same heli from the previous test (Chinook Antartic), the aircraft is loaded and the engines STOP!!! I made several tests and my conclusion is that there must be a "initialisation" problem some where is FS2002 , this "initialisation" is corrected when the standard Bell heli is loaded and afterwards the other helis have the engine(s) running!!
Now I have a temporary solution , and I will keep trying these heli machines, but, by Jove, this is not easy ...

Hello James
These are the 2 I prefer
1/ www.fsfreeware.com
search chinook in description field
2/ www.fsplanet.com
search SAR SH-3 Sikorsky (17 Mb!)
Have fun! and let me know your opinion
Thanks in advance

Regards
Emile
